Another excellent article, Luke. Thank you for such astute observations. Unfortunately, President Trump seems to have some large blind spots. One can understand his "new found faith in God" due to multiple assassination attempts. (He survived because God was watching over him, and etc.). But ... to exclude people of faith because the practice of their chosen faith does not adhere to proscribed "standards" is ludicrous. I suspect Tulsi Gabbard (Hindu) feels a bit uncomfortable with that stance. And ... how does one balance the support received from the Jewish population (Old Testament), via Netanyahu, versus the support received from proponents of "Christianity prosperity consciousness" (New Testament). It's all so confusing. It makes no sense. C'mon, Trump. Stop with this unnecessary divisive nonsense. Stick with the "Big Tent" philosophy when it comes to religious practice. The framers of the Constitution will be happier (me too) and so will the general public. Thank you, again, Luke.
Chris, thank you for the thoughtful comment. I agree 100%, the Big Tent philosophy is the only winning strategy in American politics, now and moving forward. Here's to hoping this conversation will be had far and wide -- and here's to having another fabulous Friday!
