Ep. 120 - How to Read a Head-Fake
[Sorry friends, after recording today’s podcast, the program crashed and I lost it all. Being on vacation, I’m not going to re-record right now, so the audio will be delayed — I apologize!]
Watch out for the obvious.
Fake left, bank right, spin a little, juke. Look out, what's that, hey there, so long. Have you ever put a move on someone that was so smooth, you just knew it was good? As every competitor knows, there is something supremely satisfying about leaving your opponent in the dust -- and this holds true at every level of competition from high school sports to national politics.
While republicans are cheering the resignation of Nina Jankowicz and the concurrent pause on the Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board, I believe they may have just been juked by the devilishly sly and cunning democrats. It's a textbook head-fake: As the Right revels in their short-term victory, the Left is simultaneously passing legislation that was written over a year ago, that achieves the same desired goal without all the negative press.
Follow me here: Republicans were in an uproar about Democrats appointing a known progressive operative with a documented record of peddling outright lies to be the new Czar of Truth for the completely un-American Disinformation Governance Board. It was too easy. It was too obvious. Of course Americans would be outraged and rallying against the absurdity of it all. Of course the Democrats would have to take a step back from this level of stupidity.
It was an obvious mistake, an epic political miscalculation, almost as if the Democrats had forgotten about the upcoming midterm elections (spoiler alert: they hadn't). Unfortunately, while Republicans are busy preening over these easily scored political points, the Democrats are already spinning around the issue, scattering attention with the Summer of Rage and the Summer Surge, and sneaking the H.R. 350 Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2022 into the end-zone. This bill was introduced in January 2021.
On the back of the racially motivated, white-supremacist shooting in Buffalo, NY, the democrats could ride the wave of emotion and demand that congress do something about this scourge of white-nationalist domestic terrorism that they claim is being fueled by GOP rhetoric. As if to drive the point home, the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act calls out "White supremacism" specifically in at least 15 different paragraphs.
Indeed, after authorizing a new DOMESTIC TERRORISM UNIT for the Department of Homeland Security, a new DOMESTIC TERRORISM OFFICE for the National Security Division of the Department of Justice, and a fresh DOMESTIC TERRORISM SECTION within the FBI, the bill states these units will be headed by a new Domestic Terrorism Counsel -- which sounds much more necessary and useful than the draconian Disinformation Governance Board.
Charged with generating biannual reports, the top priority of these new governmental organs is to provide well-funded assessments of:
"(A) an assessment of the domestic terrorism threat posed by White supremacists and neo-Nazis, including White supremacist and neo-Nazi infiltration of Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies and the uniformed services...
(B) an analysis of ... any White-supremacist-related incidents or attempted incidents;"
Buried further down the bill, after mentioning white supremacists some fifteen times but failing to call-out any other form of domestic terrorism, there is also talk of Hate Crimes and "domestic terrorism-related weapons recoveries." Apparently, after training employees how to understand, detect, deter, and investigate White supremacists and neo-Nazi infiltration, they plan to take the guns away from anyone who seems inclined to commit a hate crime.
Meanwhile, the mainstream media is making a concerted effort to brand the Republican party as purveyors of the "racist, violent, Replacement Theory," which is a new term that has been sweeping the headlines throughout the week. Replacement Theory, for those unfamiliar, is the idea that Democrats are banking on the surge of illegal immigrants to change the demographics of our country and secure a reliable voting block for their liberal agenda.
Please keep in mind, this idea was first advanced by Democrats, who were almost giddy about the "browning of America" and "consigning white voters to the Aztec graveyard of history." This is political strategy, plain and simple.
The point today is that this is all part of the plan. Let in millions of illegal immigrants, give them free stuff, and convince them they have the right to vote in every election. Call anyone who opposes this plan a racist white supremacist. Create new agencies to monitor these racist white supremacists, because these people are the greatest threat to our democracy.
Then get preemptive. Create a Disinformation Governance Board to crackdown on free speech, because it fuels the rage of white supremacists by spreading misinformation about the political corruption that is actively facilitating the fundamental transformation of the country. Use Artificial Intelligence to create algorithmic solutions to conquer the white supremacy problem, dubbed Hate Speech, along with any other politically sensitive issues.
Next, pause the DGB and lament that Nina Jankowicz was the target of misinformation, harassment and threats, aka the "hate crimes" that she was appointed to deal with. While the Department of Homeland Security conducts a "thorough" review of the situation, it vows to improve its anti-disinformation efforts and increase transparency -- all while executing their most brilliant maneuver, passing a bill that allows them to achieve their goals without anyone even noticing.
